Iron Neck Alpha Harness Plus Review

The neck is THE single most neglected bodypart when it comes to training...yet it's also the most VISIBLE muscle group on your body!

In all the 33+ years I've been training, I've only seen a neck machine at a commercial gym ONCE.

Yet if you think about it, a thick, strong neck sets you apart as a serious lifter more than almost any other muscle group...it's visible even when you're wearing a full suit.

And when it comes to combat and contact sports, training your neck can have a tremendous impact on your safety and confidence.

Finally, if you have neck or shoulder pain, quite often, strengthening the neck with some basic resisted movements can lead to a massive improvement in your pain levels and your posture.

So if you can't find a neck machine in your gym (or if you train at home), what do you do to develop your neck?

Here's what the Iron Neck Alpha Harness Plus looks like...

The design is pretty straightward...it's a nylon straps that have D rings to connect to resistance, and Velcro to adjust the tightness.

They do have several version of this basic harness with different features. This is the "highest" grade of the harness.

When putting it on for the first time, you'll want to open up the chin strap, then tighten up the overhead and side straps so that harness fits snugly. Then put the chin strap back on.

Due to the nature of neck training and directional resistance, it is likely the harness will shift around a bit in some exercises. I've found that pretty easy to get around, though.

The harness also comes with a strap for hanging weight plates from and several carabiners, allowing you to do a wide variety of free weight exercises.

I highly recommend getting "Harness Kit" add-on along with the harness.

This kit includes a resistance band with clips attached to the ends, a door stop attachment, a "pull-through" strap that you can attach around any post, and a carrying bag.

This will allows you to do the widest variety of exercises with the harness.

You can certainly use other bands and cables with the harness...this just makes it easier to set up.

This is the door stop attachment. You basically just put the chunky part on the other side of the door, then close the door. The other end is a D right that you can clip onto for resistance.

This is the medium resistance band (it comes with clips on the ends and is encased in fabric).

This is the strap that you can loop through itself to create an anchor point around any appropriately-sized post or solid object.

And I came up with a way to do resisted rotation by threading the band through several of the D rings then attaching it to the other side. I'm holding it in place to keep the harness from spinning as I do the exercise (more on this in the video).

These movements can be done with the resistance band, with a cable weight stack or with free weight plates.
