Shilajit - Do I Still Recommend It After Using it For a Year?

TL;DR — 1-Year Shilajit Update
Short version: After ~1 year of on/off use, I still recommend shilajit. Steadier energy and better recovery — and the resin prep is simple (pea-size in hot, not boiling, water).
- ✅ Still in my daily stack — helpful “gap-filler” minerals plus fulvic/humic support.
- ✅ Resin prep: dissolves in ~3–4 minutes; see photos below.
- ✅ Quality matters: go with batch-tested products.
Brand I’m using: Natural Shilajit — code MAD10 saves 10%.
Shilajit is an ancient nutritional supplement that can deliver benefits to your entire body.
I've been using this particular brand for the past year (almost... and I'll explain why in the video) and I wanted to get back to you with my thoughts on how it feels when I use it.
I'll give you the full rundown in the video below (including the best way I found to use the tar-like resin version).
First, What Is Shilajit?
I've got a full explanation of Shilajit in my original review here (link opens in a new window).
Shilajit is a sticky, black, tar-like substance found in the high mountains of the Himalayas, Altai, Caucasus, and other mountain ranges. It's formed over hundreds of years by the decomposition of plant and microbial matter.
It looks weird and it smells bad... it tastes like mountain dirt and smells like a bear's armpit, I'll be honest... yet it's a nutritional powerhouse.
Shilajit has been used for centuries in traditional Ayurvedic medicine, particularly in India, as a natural remedy to promote general health and well-being as well as physical strength and stamina.
The composition of shilajit is complex and includes a variety of minerals, fulvic acid, humic acid, and other organic compounds. It is known for its rich mineral content. As well, its fulvic acid content is believed to enhance the absorption of minerals and nutrients by the body.
Our processed modern diet is lacking in these types of complex organic compounds and ionic minerals. When you add them back in, you're giving your body nutrients in a form that it knows how to work with.
As well, modern farming methods don't allow time for the decomposition of plant matter necessary to form these compounds.
In traditional medicine systems, shilajit is often used to boost energy, improve stamina, and support overall vitality (including boosting testosterone). It is also believed to have antioxidant properties and is used for various health purposes, including anti-aging, immune system support, and promoting general wellness.

How To Prepare The Shilajit Resin
So definitely watch the video to get my full rundown on my experience with Shilajit over the past year.
But I also wanted to give you a look at how the resin mixes in hot water (just tap hot, not boiling).
I use the end of the spoon handle to dig out a glob of it rather than using the head of the spoon itself... it fits in the container better and is easier to get the resin out.

Here's the size of the glob I use... about the size of a pea.

Then just fill up a glass with hot water and set the end of the spoon in it.

It'll start to dissolve immediately and, in my experience, will be completely dissolved in 3 to 4 minutes or so.

It'll turn the water a nice brownish color... luckily, we don't drink it for the color or the taste (though I actually have developed a taste for it and kind of like it now).

Overall...
After taking this stuff for more than a year (with a break as explained in the video), I can definitely still HIGHLY recommend it. It's a true missing link in almost any supplement routine.
Shilajit and Fat Loss
Now, to be clear, it's NOT a fat-burner... it's a SUPPORTIVE supplement that helps with what happens in your body as you pull fat out of your fat cells to burn it.
It's an aspect of fat loss that you may not even know about... and can literally give you a headache.
