Steel Mace Review
The Steel Mace is a great example of an ancient combat weapon being repurposed into fitness training equipment.
The Steel Mace comes in a variety of weights and sizes, from 7 lbs all the way up to 25 lbs. I'm using a 15 lb mace in the demo, which is a good place to start if you're fairly strong but fully familiar with mace training.
Personally, I've done a lot of sledgehammer training but never any pure mace training until I got this one. So I definitely still need a lot of practice to master the movements and skills of mace training.
I used the mace for some shoulder mobility and warm-up as well as core and shoulder strengthening. I also worked it with grip and upper body balance training as well as using it similar to a sledgehammer (though it does have a big advantage over the sledgehammer in that the round head ensures good hitting contact no matter where you hit it).
Overall, FANTASTIC piece of equipment. This specific mace I reviewed is made by Set For Set and is built rock-solid for a lifetime of hard use.
