Flybird Fitness Pro Weight Bench Review

The cornerstone of a good home gym is a solid, adjustable weight bench.

It's one of the top four pieces of home gym equipment I would recommend (first is a set of adjustable dumbbells, then comes a bench, then a barbell set, then a power rack).

When choosing a bench, I recommend you don't skimp on quality...get something that is built rock solid first and you''ll never have to worry about upgrading your bench later, as you get stronger.

I tested out a weight bench from Flybird Fitness...this is their "pro" version, which is designed for heavy duty use.

It's an adjustable incline bench designed to handle 1100 lbs of loading (more than enough for any home gym use!).

Here's a quick rundown of the features of this bench...

When using a bench at home, it's nice to have an easy way to move it around...this bench has attached wheels that allow you to pick up the other end and roll the bench to where you'd like to put it.

The back of the bench easily adjusts to a variety of angles (6 positions), and the seat adjusts to 3 positions as well. You don't need to pop any pins out to move the bench surface...just lift and set the angled post on the bottom and you're set.

The back goes all the way up to full vertical (some incline benches stop a bit shy of full vertical).

The bench is made with high-density foam padding. I found it solid enough that I didn't sink in and the surfaces were smooth without being slick.

This bench is built rock solid. I had no doubt this could hold as much as I could hold without any issue.

One interesting feature that I found was that I was able to use the flat surfaces of the back legs of the bench as a calf block. They're flat and wide enough to be quite comfortable for that purpose, also allowing you to set your hands on the top of the bench for balance.

It's a nice bonus!

Are there any improvements that I would suggest for this bench?

There were a few things that felt could be improved on the bench.

I'm used to picking up a bench and just moving it where I want to put it...I didn't have a bench with rollers. With this bench, if you pick it up, the back and seat will just lift up, making that impractical.

In a gym with more space than mine, it's not a big deal and, to be honest, I learned to work with it and it was just fine.

As well, to really maximize the versatility of this bench, the capability to do decline work would be nice. That would require the addition of ankle pads on the end of the bench, though, and it having a bench go to decline is not a priority for you, then it would be an unnecessary expense.

The feet on the bottom of the bench are plastic. They do fine for gripping on most surfaces but they do have the potential to slip if the bench is set on a hard surface like concrete and, for example, you're driving with your legs on a bench press. I would have preferred rubber feet that grip on any surface.

Conclusion:

Overall, this is an excellent bench. It's very strong, well built and easy to put together. It's well worth the asking price and it'll last a very long time even with hard use.
