Feierdun Fitness FLA01 Power Rack Review

Training at home is a great way to get fit and strong, especially if "finding the time to workout" is your #1 excuse for not training.

When you have workout equipment in your own home, you are literally saving HOURS of time every week by not driving to and from the gym. This makes exercise a lot more accessible.

As well, if there's ever another time when gyms have to close, you don't need to worry...you've got everything you need at home to stay fit and strong.

In my opinion, after actual weights (like dumbbells, a barbell and a bench), the most important piece of equipment you can own is a good, versatile power rack.

That's where the FLA01 Power Rack from Feierdun Fitness comes in... it offers a a wide variety of features not only as a safety rack (for free weight exercises such as squats and bench press), but also as a muti-station home gym with dual cables for one or two arm exercises, chin-up bars, and a built-in landmine attachment.

For the full review of the rack and the exercises you can do with it, be sure to watch the video. I cover every feature of the rack in detail, from the safety rails to the cables to the weight plate and bar storage posts.

Putting the Rack Together

Overall, the assembly of the rack took me about 5 hours of total work time. I found it to be mostly easy to put together. The trickiest part was getting the cables set up properly, but even then, it actually wasn't that difficult. I only had to backtrack a couple of times for minor lapses of my own making (putting a piece on backwards was one of them).

One of my favorite parts about the assembly was the organization of the hardware. It seems like a small thing but it helps a LOT. Each step of assembly in the instructions is labeled on the hardware packs so you know EXACTLY when to use which nuts and bolts. There's no guesswork.

When setting up, be sure you know exactly where it's going to go and that you have enough room to lay out the pieces.

Once you get the base set up, you'll have a very good idea of the overall footprint of the rack. It doesn't take up a tremendous amount of space.

Here are the uprights set up.

Then you get the top crossbeams on.

Here's the finished product.

I found the rack to be rock solid in terms of contstruction. Almost any rack is going to have a bit of sway to it (even my primary rack that's rated to 2,000 lbs has sway to it). The materials are well built and the engineering is high quality.

The only real issue I had with the design of this rack was with the weight storage posts that are on the back uprights of the rack.

When those are in, they completely interfere with the safety rails...basically making 3 settings of the rails unusable. And for me, that was right where I need the rails for barbell bench press.

The simple solution is to just leave them off and use alternate storage means for weight plates, either on the included, separate posts for them or by getting yourself a plate tree (recommended...they're pretty inexpensive).

Sample Exercises With the FEIERDUN FLA01 Power Rack

The core function of this rack is that it's a true power rack...it has the safety rails and J hooks you need to safely do just about any barbell exercise you want.

The pull-up bars that are on the top, front crossbeam gives you plenty of hand placement options for all varities of chin-ups and pull-ups.

The cable row station has foot plates for seated cable rows. The only hitch I could see with it was that it didn't allow me to stretch very far forward before the weight trolley stopped at the bottom. To get around this, you can raise the cable a few notches.

The dual cable stacks allow for a variety of two-arm cable exercises, such as laterals and crossovers.

This setup works GREAT for two-arm pulldowns (you will likely need to be sitting on the floor for these otherwise the cable heights won't allow you to get a full stretch at the top).

And this is barely scratching the surface of what you can do with it. I actually came up with a few new exercises that can ONLY be done with a rack/cable setup like this.

The Bottom Line

As I mention in the review, I like this rack. It's an excellent piece of equipment, and offers really good value for the price.

It's got a lot of useful features to cover every single muscle group and it's solidly built. I felt very safe using it and was very impressed with the overall quality.

If you're in the market for a home gym power rack with multistation options, this absolutely worth considering and a rack I can highly recommend.
