Cobantfit Lateral Raise and Chest Press Attachment Review

If you train at home, you need equipment that will maximize the number of exercises you can do in a minimum amount of space.

This is why multi-station machines are so popular for home gyms. If you're on limited space, you need to able to get the most out of it.

That's where the Lateral Raise and Chest Attachment from Cobantfit shines, in my experience.

It's primary function is to allow you to perform perfect lateral raises and chest "presses" (more of a cross-over motion) using a pair of lever arms that rotate in an arc.

I found it to be excellent for those things but GREAT for a number of other exercises as well...in fact, many other things that you CAN'T do with any other pieces of equipment.

Here's my full review...

Here's what the Lateral Raise attachment looks like when attached to a rack.

To use this on your rack, you will need a rack that has holes on BOTH sides of the uprights...the bolts need to go all the way through the post for proper attachment.

Once it's attached, it's solid. Before you tighten it up fully, make sure that the height is comfortable for you for lateral raises.

Here's what you can do with it...including lateral raises and a whole lot more!

Lateral Raises

Forearm Lateral Raises with the lever arm sitting on tope of the forearm instead of being gripped in the hand. This allows you to use more weight while taking the grip completely out of the exercise.

I find it also allows you to increase the effective range of motion.

Chest "Press", which is more akin to a cross-over movement.

Bent-Over Lateral Raises for Rear Delts. Because it's an involved process to move the rack attachment, I find it easier to just stand on a bench. This puts you in the perfect position for the exercise.

Full Range One-Arm Pushdowns. This is a killer movement that takes advantage of the rotatary action of the machine. You start with a normal pushdown, then as you come to the bottom, the rotary action allows you to keep coming around until your arm is straight AND a little behind you, which is the true peak contracted position for the tricep.

Core Rotations, coming forward and up. This is amazing deep core training, similar to a wood chop exercise or baseball swing.

Nautilus Pullover Analog. The working hand is the one gripping on the bar. The other is there to stabilize your body. This actually mimics the Nautilus pullover machine fairly well, giving you tension at the top, all the way around, and keeping it on all the way to the bottom. It's not a perfect match but I was impressed by how good it felt.

Overall Impressions...

I was actually very impressed with how well this machine worked, in so many ways. The lateral raises and bent-over lateral raises are the stars of this piece. The rotary action and arc pattern of movement is ideal for both of then.

What really makes this machine worth it, though, is what you can also do beyond the lateral raises. Several of those options above can't be duplicated with any other machine I've tried.

It is solidly constructed, though you will notice a bit of "play" in the lever arms. That's just how the machine is designed and how it needs to be in order to work. I didn't feel like it negatively affected the overall strength of the unit.

One thing I would be happy to see would be an easier way to change the position on the rack. Currently, it uses a bolt and wing nut system. It makse the attachment solid once it's on, but it wouldn't be convenient to change height in between exercises.

As well, I did find the lever arms contacted the frame of the machine at certain points, stopping the range of motion.

Bottom line...

I like this attachment a lot. There are so many things you can do with it and so many positions you can work with it in, it opens up a ton of variation in your training in terms of movement patterns and exercise selection.

It's well built and solid enough to last you a very long time. Really nice piece of equipment!
