I'm a Runner and My Calves Are Killing Me

Question:

I am a track and cross country runner and my calf muscles are killing me.

The pain starts at the top of my Achilles Tendon and up the middle of my calf. I don't know what to do, its been like this for 2 weeks.

Answer:

I would highly suggest having that injury checked out by a doctor or, preferably, a sports medicine specialist. My thought would be that it could be an overuse injury.

As a former cross-country and track runner myself, I ended up with a few overuse injuries in my time (shin splints and hip pain). The only thing that cured it was resting.
