Now, as you probably realize from reading through this site, I don't often talk about or focus on supplements...it's not that I'm against supplements (far from it!). It's just that beyond the basics, like protein, creatine, glutamine, vitamins, minerals, etc., there really isn't a whole lot out there that impresses me.

Okay, that's not entirely true...I'm quite often impressed by the imagination and creativity that goes into the marketing of all the new junk that keeps coming out! Those 4 page special report infoadvertorials don't write themselves, after all... :)

So anyway, I've got something a bit different for you here ...this isn't necessarily about training or muscle or strength (though it CAN actually improve athletic performance - I'll tell you more about that).

This is about your health and your energy...

Recently, a friend of mine passed along some information to me about a new supplement he had been using and had gotten others using. He said the results were just amazing - people were feeling WAY more energetic and getting healthier just by taking this supplement.

It wasn't a bodybuilding supplement...it wasn't for fat loss or muscle growth.


It was a glutathione booster.

And I'm sure right now you're thinking, "Wow, that means nothing to me"... :)

Don't lie...that's what I thought, too...at first...

Then I started reading the RESEARCH on it that my friend had also sent along to me. All the science behind it was what really started bringing me around to thinking this might be something really quite good!

See, he knew THAT is one of the critical things I look for in a supplement. Is it safe...is it effective...and does it have LEGITIMATE research backing it up.

You'd be amazed at how much money is spent on supplements that don't have one tiny shred of scientific evidence backing them up. Heck, if you're bored one day, call up these companies that advertise in the muscle magazines and ask them to send you the scientific studies that have been perform proving the effectiveness of their product.

I've actually DONE that and the responses you get run from comical to downright rude to complete silence and a company brochure in the mail.


Anyway, back to glutathione...time to get all educational on you here.

Glutathione is the most powerful antioxidant in your body. It's sometimes referred to as the "master antioxidant." Without delving too deep into the biochemistry of it, it basically means glutathione is the base compound that replenishes the free radical-quenching power of all the OTHER antioxidants in your body.

To put it simply, free radicals are "bad" compounds that cause breakdown in your body, including cell damage, inflammation, that kind of thing.

There is a whole biochemical chain of events that happens with this replenishment of the antioxidants in your body but here's an analogy that can help you sort it out:

1. A free radical is a like a fire in your body.

2. An antioxidant (doesn't matter which one) is like the fireman putting out the fire.

3. Glutathione is like the reservoir that all the firefighters get water from to put out the fires.

4. As you get older, that reservoir naturally decreases in size from continuous use (it's about 10 to 12% per decade after age 20)...the more fires (i.e. oxidative damage) you have to deal with, the faster the reservoir decreases.

5. If you don't replenish or support your body's production of glutathione, some fires don't get put out and you get cellular damage (which can result in diseases like cancer, for example) and inflammation (which can causes things like heart disease and joint conditions).

6. You CAN refill your glutathione reservoir (via this supplement I'm talking about), which, of course, can protect you from the damage caused by not having enough of it.

Now, before you say it, this isn't something that the company just made up in order to sell a product. You know what I mean...create a problem you didn't even know you had (like Restless Leg Syndrome) then sell you a pill that gets rid of it.

This glutathione/antioxidant/free-radical connection is EXTREMELY well-researched and documented and is totally legit.


So Here's The Bottom Line on MaxGXL:

The name of this stuff is MaxGXL. I've been testing it out for the past few months and have noticed a significant difference in energy levels and recovery ability from training. And, from the reading I've been doing on it, the older you are (and I guess the more beaten down your glutathione levels!), the more dramatic the results you'll see from taking this stuff.

Many of the benefits happen at a cellular level so it's hard for me to say to you "yes, my markers of cellular inflammation have experienced a 68% reduction" or anything like that but here's the nice thing...

This supplement works in 100% of people who use it...and that can be verified with simple blood tests. EVERY SINGLE PERSON who takes this will experience increases in glutathione levels, which leads to improved energy, immunity and reduced inflammation.

What Are the Benefits of Glutathione?

So I mentioned I'd give you a little more "ejjekashun" about what glutathione is important for in your body. I honestly didn't realize what all it did until I started really reading about it myself. It's an extremely important antioxidant in the body and I have to say, I've learned a lot about it in the past few months.

The more I read about it, the more I realize how much this stuff can really help people, which is the reason I'm even telling you about it.

And I've gotta be honest, when I first saw this was put out by an MLM company, I was a little concerned. I've always been very skeptical of that type of thing (when I hear MLM I always get visions of people sitting in a room of casual acquaintances trying to convince them of the benefits of hand soap with extract of Amazonian bat barf mixed in it).

So my advice is to forget the MLM aspect of it (because that's totally NOT what I'm trying to accomplish here) and consider giving the product a try. The research behind it is substantial, and the mechanism of action is legitimate.

The other nice thing I like about it...it doesn't try to do a bunch of different things all at once. It's single purpose is increasing glutathione levels in the body. I've always found that the supplements that try to do everything generally end up doing nothing (or the something that they DO do is give you gas).

So here are those 5 things that glutathione does in your body and the benefits it has for you:


1. Energy Levels

Constant free radical damage overwhelms cellular energy production (this is in addition to stress, poor diet, lack of sleep, that kind of thing). Glutathione optimizes energy production in your cells by queching free radicals and restoring the quality of cells - they function more efficiciently, basically.

To me this is similar to taking vitamins for performance...sure, you can survive without taking vitamins and the dietary recommendations from doctors are set at levels that prevent deficiency. My thought is why would just want to take just enough not to die? I'd rather have enough for optimal health and performance, even if it means taking over those very bare minimum recommendations. Same deal with glutathione. You won't die from reduced glutathione levels, but lower levels will affect your health and energy levels.


2. Immune System

Your immune system needs glutathione to function properly - without going into great detail about that, you pretty much know it's kind of important to have an immune system functioning properly!


3. Peak Athletic Performance

Glutathione plays a pivotal role in creating energy and helping your body utilize oxygen. Optimal glutathione levels in the body allow you to recover faster from hard training and the neutralize the free radical production associated with intense exercise. The faster you recover, the sooner you're able to train again. This is one thing I've noticed in taking this stuff myself.

If you're an athlete, this is a CRITICAL thing...the faster you can recover, the sooner you can get back out there and perform at peak levels. Think of a pitcher getting back into the rotation sooner...a football player able to recover from the pounding of the last game faster. The faster you recover, the better you'll perform the next time.


4. Cellular Detox

We live in a world with rampant toxicity...pollution in the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat. Glutathione is actually one of the principle components used by the body to neutralize and get rid of these toxins. It actually even binds to heavy metals (if you eat a lot of canned tuna, like I do, this is an important point for you...mercury levels in fish are something to watch out for) and helps remove them from the body.


5 . Fighting Cellular Inflammation

Imflammation has been implicated in major health problems such as heart disease to joint and muscle pain. Glutathione offsets the effects of inflammation at a cellular level and, because it's present in every cell of the body, it can actually help regular inflammation throughout the entire body.
