playing baseball and looking to
improve my performance. Can you
recommend any lifting exercises
to help improve my swing?

Answer:
A
good exercise for the baseball swing
can be done with just a dumbell
and a bench.
-
Set
a dumbell on end on the end
of a bench then sit down beside
it.
-
Your
legs should be perpendicular
to the bench.
-
Keeping
your upper body vertical and
knees pointing straight forward,
turn to the side and grasp
the dumbell with both hands.
-
Lift
it off the bench then rotate
to the other side and set
it down on the other end of
the bench.
-
Repeat
this from the other side.
-
Keep
your breath sucked in when
doing this one but be sure
you don't hold it too long.
-
Use
about 20 to 30 pounds to start
with on this one.
This
exercise works the transverse
abdominus which is one of the
major stabilizing muscles of
the torso. Strengthening it
will allow the power from your
legs and midsection to be transferred
strongly to your upper body
and therefore your bat when
you swing.
